Determining the DW6000 or DW7000/HN7000S Network Type
Solution
Use the article below to assist you
in determining the type of network your DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S is configured to serve.
There are two methods to determine the networking configuration. The
first method is to check the type of service plan. The second method is
to check the DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S's internal web page. The second method gives more
detail, but you must be able to bring up the internal web page. NOTE: Before you begin we strongly recommend that you print out
this article.
Method 1:
Use the table below to determine the type of service
offering you have. The row for IP Address Scheme
will tell you how your DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S is configured. Generally
most users will have a Home plan with the DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S
configured for NAT with DHCP enabled. NAT means Network Address
Translation. With this type of addressing scheme the IP address of
your DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S is known by one address in the HughesNet NOC
(Network Operations Center) and by another IP address on your private
network. With the Static IP address scheme the IP address of your
DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S is known by the same address both publicly and
privately. For more detailed information use method 2.

Method 2:
This method assumes you are
connected to the DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S. The information you need to find is
stored inside the DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S and can be accessed on the built-in control panel.
Follow the steps below to access the control panel and find the needed
information. NOTE: For
the method to work you need to have working communication with the
DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S. If you are having trouble connecting to the
DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S please see Troubleshooting Connectivity to the DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S.
If you connectivity to the DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S,
enter the following address in your
browser's address bar
192.168.0.1 Do you see the DW6000/7000/HN7000S control panel? If you don't please see the
Troubleshooting Connectivity to the DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S
for assistance troubleshoot your connection to the DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S.
Click the System Info button to open the System Info page.
(See the picture below.)
Print this page or take note
of the information in the table below. You
will need it later.
There are essentially 4 pieces of
information you need to know; whether NAT is enabled or disabled, whether
DHCP
enabled or disabled, the IP address of the DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S, and the Subnet Mask of the of the DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S.
The
NAT and DHCP settings are found in the Software Configuration section.
The IP address and Subnet Mask of the DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S are found in the DW6000/7000/HN7000S Info section.
(See the picture below.)
Use the table below with the information you collected in
the previous step to determine what type of configuration
you have. If you printed this article, we suggest
that you circle your configuration and, if necessary, fill in the IP address and or subnet
mask for future reference.

* NAT with DHCP enabled is the most common home user plan. Most users
have this plan. NAT means Network Address Translation. With this type of addressing scheme the IP address

Center) and by another IP address on your private network.
**With the Static IP address scheme the IP address of your DW6000/DW7000/HN7000S is know
by the same address both publicly and privately.
